The Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer with extensive experience from developing and introducing products within the MedTech industry.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in product development from early concept through development, verification, production introduction and market launch. You will be involved in both the technical and practical aspects of bringing products from development into production and ultimately to the market.

This is a senior role for someone who understands the complete product development process and is comfortable taking responsibility for coordinating activities across different functions and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the development of new and improved products.
• Work throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept and requirements through design, verification, production introduction and market launch.
• Coordinate product development activities across relevant technical and operational functions.
• Ensure that product requirements are translated into appropriate technical solutions.
• Participate in product specifications, architecture, design, prototyping and testing.
• Plan and coordinate verification and validation activities.
• Support risk analysis and resolution of technical and product-related issues.
• Coordinate activities related to design transfer and introduction of products into production.
• Work with production, suppliers and development partners to ensure successful product introduction.
• Investigate and resolve defects, deviations and other product-related issues.
• Participate in technical reviews and contribute to technical decisions.
• Ensure that product development activities meet applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of products and product development processes.
• Follow products and technical issues through development and into production and market introduction.

Product Development Focus

A key part of the role is understanding what is required to successfully take a product from development to a production-ready and market-ready product.

You should therefore have practical experience with several stages of the process, including:

• Product concept and requirements
• Product development
• Technical design and architecture
• Prototyping
• Testing and verification
• Risk analysis
• Design documentation
• Design transfer
• Production introduction
• Manufacturing support
• Product launch / market introduction
• Product improvements and issue resolution

Your Background

We are looking for a senior professional with approximately 8–10+ years of relevant experience in product development.

You should have:

• A relevant university degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 8–10 years of relevant professional experience in product development.
• Experience developing products within MedTech, medical devices or another highly regulated product environment.
• Proven experience taking products from development into production and market introduction.
• Experience coordinating development activities involving several functions and stakeholders.
• Experience working with requirements, design, testing, verification and technical documentation.
• Understanding of quality and regulatory requirements related to product development.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills.
• The ability to take ownership of activities and drive them forward.
• Good communication skills in English.

We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in someone who has actually brought products to production and market, rather than someone whose experience has been limited to a specific part of the development process.

You should be comfortable working across the different stages of product development and understand the challenges involved in moving from an engineering prototype to a product that can be manufactured and introduced to the market.

Experience coordinating with production, suppliers, development partners and other technical stakeholders is highly relevant to the role.
